Marauding elephants have reportedly invaded farmlands in Gamboru/Ngala, a local Government Are in Northern Nigeria’s Borno State.
Confirming the development on Friday, Ayuba Peter, the Director of Forestry and Wildlife at the Borno State Ministry of Environment said that the elephants which invaded the farms were from Waza National Park in neighbouring Cameroon Republic.
โYearly it moves from Cameroon to Nigeria and back again during this period, following its route that passed through Gamboru/Ngala and Kala-Balge LGAs,”he said, adding that the ministry had since mobilized a team to visit the area.

โWe have mobilised our men, we are just waiting for personnel of Federal Ministry of Environment that will join us any moment now to move to the area,โ Peter said.
Reacting to the development, the Director of Pest Control at the Borno State Ministry of Agriculture, Malam Mustafa Bukar said that ministry had also responded to complaints about Quela birds and Grasshoppers in Dikwa, Molai and Muna axis of Dikwa, Konduga and Jere LGAs.
