Nigerian govt seeks stronger ties with EU

The Federal Government is seeking more collaboration with the European Union in its determination to tackle climate change in the country.

Senator Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, who made this known during a courtesy visit by members of the European Union Council Working Group on Africa, appreciated the growing relationship between the European Union and Nigeria and called for more collaboration, especially in the area of climate change.

The Minister told the delegation that the Federal Government had taken several measures to tackle climate change.

Samuella Isopi, the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, affirmed the EU’s readiness to deepen collaboration and contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and development, especially as it relates to climate change.

Yamina Gerfi, the Chairman of the Africa Working Party of the Council of the European Union, Yamina Gerfi, explained that the visit aimed to deepen understanding and cooperation with Nigeria and the region.
