Participants at the 6th edition of the African Forum of Territorial Managers and Training Institutes targeting Local Governments (FAMI 6 2022) will seek to learn and exchange ideas on the conclusions of the COP27 with a focus on the gains for African Local Governments.
Organised by the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), through its African Local Government Academy (ALGA) and its Partners, the meeting which will hold between November 28 and December 3, 2022, will also attempt to situate the main actors and stakeholders involved in the process of training and capacity building in climate matters targeting African Local Governments.
During the training, trainees will be intimated on climate actions in partnership with the ADEME Agency, along with highlighting promising practices and successful experiences in climate action and identifying key funding opportunities for training and capacity building.

The forum at the back of the COP27 summit in Egypt will also be an opportunity to present, discuss and provide answers to the various issues related to the challenges of training and capacity building of local elected officials and local government executives in Africa in terms of climate action.
A statement released by the UCLG shows that the impacts of climate change are a global phenomenon albeit with varying effects from one region to another, and stakeholders need to play a significant role in climate action.
The statement further shows that Africa’s vulnerability to climate change is aggravated due to factors such as low adaptive capacity, high dependence on ecosystem goods for livelihoods and less developed agricultural production systems.
