William and Catherine are set to visit the US this week for an environmental award in what will be their first international journey since assuming the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.
William had instituted the awards last year.
At the second annual Earthshot Prize awards ceremony in Boston, the royal couple will demonstrate their support for developing solutions to combat climate change. Among the performances are Billie Eilish, Annie Lennox, Ellie Goulding, and Chloe x Halle.

In addition to the award ceremony on Friday, William and Catherine will be on display in front of the US public, which has recently seen a lot of coverage of the Royal Family, including articles on Prince Harry and Meghan as well as the Queen’s funeral and the Netflix drama The Crown.
It is perceived that Prince William is assuming his father, King Charles,’ environmental responsibilities. During the event, he will also be putting up his own signs and demonstrating how seriously he takes environmental matters.
Using the days before the award to tour programs for the underprivileged in Boston, he will aim to divert the US royal coverage away from the gossip pages and toward more important issues.
Speaking about the event, William said that the planet is at a “tipping point,” and the awards are meant to encourage creative approaches to minimizing environmental harm.
