The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) has urged businesses to promote environmentally friendly investments to ensure sustainability.
Speaking at the 2022 Quantity Surveyors Week, Mr Ayodele Alao, the outgoing Chairman of Lagos’ NIQS, urged businesses to strike a balance and embrace wise decisions that protect the environment for the sake of future generations while pursuing growth despite several obstacles.
According to him, sustainability prolongs the lifespan of businesses hence the need for firms to adopt environmentally friendly options.

He also emphasized that encouraging sustainability is a long-term strategy that all businesses need to prioritize.
In his words, “It is no longer acceptable to just stay in existence and not contribute to the collective socio-economic well-being and maintaining or restoring the environment where the need be.”
He called on the general public to always make sure they hired qualified quantity surveyors to execute projects in order to stop leaks and waste.
