A woman lost her life on Wednesday after she was caught in a flood that struck Emplasmen village in North Sumatra’s Labuhan Batu region.
According to reports, workers from the local Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) and police recovered the womanโs body from her home several hours after she was found dead.
Numerous portions of the Bilah Hulu district were swamped by floods, including a section of the Trans-Sumatra highway at Aeknabara, which resulted in gridlock.
Erik Ritonga, the regent of Labutan Batu, stated that the flood struck early on Wednesday, making it difficult to mitigate.

The Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) issued a press release on Wednesday warning that additional heavy rain was anticipated to affect provinces throughout the nation through December 30. The agency had already placed Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on high alert for such weather conditions.
According to the BMKG, the increased rainfall in these provinces could result in landslides, flash floods, and floods, particularly in slopes and other high-elevation locations.
The BMKG issued a warning on its Twitter account, informing Jakartans to prepare for a full day of rain on Thursday, ranging from light rain to thunderstorms. Up until January 2, there was a substantial likelihood of more severe weather. There was a good chance that all of Java’s provinces, as well as Bali, NTT, and NTB, would have a lot of rain during that time.
