In support of its environmental sustainability initiatives, the Coca-Cola Company has launched a strategy to cut down on plastic waste globally.

The company disclosed this on Thursday in a website release titled “Coca-Cola Strategic Intervention in Environmental Sustainability”.

The new strategy, according to the company, will aim to reduce plastic waste globally and set an ambitious goal of having all of its packaging recyclable globally by 2025.

It was further stated that the company had started by revamping PET for its items to make them recyclable.

In doing this, the beverage company said, Sprite, one of its largest global sparkling beverage brands discontinued its trademark iconic green-coloured PET and made the switch to clear PET packaging in 2020 across several markets globally, including Nigeria as of August 1, 2022.

According to the company, this enables better recycling and easier conversion into new bottles by increasing the supply of high-value recycled plastic in the after-use market.
