Digital energy giant, Schneider Electric has said that existing technologies can cut carbon emissions by 70% and provide a more wholesome energy environment for people all over the world.

At an event attended by Jean-Pascal Tricoire, chairman and CEO of Schneider Electric Group and other top pioneering firms on Friday, Schneider Electric’s Teina Teibowei, a microgrids expert, discussed the company’s goal of scaling the energy industry with journalists at an innovation summit in Maryland, the United States.

The event discussed how organizations all around the world can accelerate digital transformation by selecting the appropriate technology to fulfil a wide range of sustainability goals including microgrids.

According to Teibowei, Nigeria’s power sector’s carbon emissions will reach about 11.7 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide in 2020, although they can be cut with innovations like microgrids.

In his words, “With the recent sustainability dilemma facing the world; rapid transformations in technology across all sectors, and the tripled advancement of cars, computers, phones, and daily technologies relied on, there is an ever-increasing demand for more energy than the 20th-century technology for technological power advancement.

Speaking further, he said, “Microgrids are self-contained electrical networks that draw from on-site energy sources and can operate independently of the grid,”. “They offer straightforward solutions for elevating energy resilience and clean energy”.
