Former Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a plane load of care items to victims of the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

It will be recalled that earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.6 left more than 44,000 people dead in Turkey and over 50,000 across neighbouring Syria last month.

The former United striker, who now plays for Saudi League side Al Nassr, has sent aid to the areas affected by the disaster.

According to reports, Ronaldo paid for tents, food packages, pillows and blankets, beds, baby food and milk and medical supplies to help aid the humanitarian effort.

More than 500,000 people are said to have been evacuated from Turkey’s 11 affected provinces and over 160,000 buildings have collapsed and 184 people suspected of complicity have been arrested.

Also recall that two days after the tragedy, Merih Demiral, the Turkish defender for Atalanta, contacted Cristiano to put his signed shirt up for auction, which the Turk had in his collection.

โ€œI just spoke with Cristiano. He said that he was very sad about what happened in Turkey. We are auctioning the shirt signed by Ronaldo in my collectionโ€, said Demiral on Twitter, who has already managed to auction shirts signed by other famous footballers such as Paulo Dybala, รngel Di Marรญa and Paul Pogba.

Taking to his Twitter page, Demiral explained that he also managed to auction off a pair of gloves signed by Gianluigi Buffon and shirts signed by Neymar Jr and Lionel Messi, both Paris Saint Germain players.

Other footballers who have shown solidarity with the cause and have donated signed shirts are Leonardo Bonucci, Danilo, Federico Chiesa and Duลกan Vlahoviฤ‡.
