To better safeguard the environment, environmentalists have urged for better activism and legislation. They pointed out that taking such action will benefit both current and future generations by reducing the effects of climate change and ensuring a sustainable environment.

The conference call was hosted in Lekki, Lagos, by Desmond Majekodunmi, Chairperson of the Lagos State Urban Forest and Animal Shelter Initiative (LUFASI). He argued that a greater understanding of how to safeguard the environment, combat climate change, and improve the world is imperative.

Majekodunmi noted that caring for nature should be a collective effort by critical stakeholders such as individuals, governments, and policymakers.

โ€œNigerians should constantly work for a sustainable earth, cities, and communities and ensure collaborations with professionals across diverse sectors. It is scientifically proven that if one spends 30 to 45 minutes with trees, green vegetation, and forest, a person can be free from stress and purify blood circulation because of positive chemicals from the trees

General Manager, LUFASI Nature Park, Evans Basil, said the man has continuously abused nature and does the opposite of Godโ€™s purpose by destroying the earth.

According to him, pollution, gas flaring, deforestation, hurricanes, and earthquakes are manโ€™s handiwork affecting life support systems, adding that advanced technology has not been able to stop these occurrences.

He lamented the indiscriminate cutting of trees and plants that give man oxygen.

Chief Executive officer, kodakhotshots Limited Lagos, Okwori Matthew Aduma, encouraged Nigerians to keep in touch with nature to tap its benefits.

โ€œI commend the sacrifices of LUFASIโ€™s park management for keeping the place intact for people to have a relationship with nature,โ€ he said.
