The Delta State Government has announced its approval of the installation of solar energy in all of the state’s public hospitals.
According to Mr Charles Aniagwu, Delta State Commissioner for Information, who spoke to media in Asaba, the approval was issued to address the state’s general hospitals’ electricity shortage.
Aniagwu noted that the hospitals’ energy requirements would be met after the renewable energy mix was installed because the cost of operating a diesel generator had soared.

In his words, “We know that our facilities, especially the hospitals are having challenges of inadequate power supply and the cost of running diesel generators have also skyrocketed.
“Consequent upon this development, we have decided to embrace renewable energy sources; this time around, solar energy, to ensure we have power in our hospitals.”
The Commissioner disclosed that approval for the construction of a waterfront in Asaba as well as a six-lane dual carriage road leading to the waterfront was also given by the state Exco.
