The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) has pledged to support Nigeria in meeting the goals established to achieve a significant decrease in the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the nation.

According to the FAO representative in Nigeria, the organization will support this initiative by utilizing the chances presented by Nigeria’s participation in the GEF-8 replenishment cycle for collaboration with the Nigerian government and by utilizing FAO’s strong field presence, in-country alliances, and extensive technical know-how.

According to FAO, it will also offer special assistance and collaboration in the GEF-8 Integrated Programmes that have been proposed, particularly in the fields of food systems, ecosystem restoration, the Amazon, critical forest biomes, wildlife conservation for development, and sustainable cities.
