The Met Office has issued new snow and ice warnings and advised British drivers to exercise caution.

This week, the Arctic blast is predicted to bring with it significant snowfall, ice, and chilly -10C temperatures.

The meteorological service has predicted that several locations across the UK would see temperatures as low as -10C, with snowfall expected in various locations, including London, the South East, and Scotland.

Yellow warnings are also in effect for Northern Ireland, Wales, and northern England, as well as for Kent and Sussex.

According to the Met Office, the majority of the north, including places like Manchester and Newcastle upon Tyne, will be under snow and ice warnings from Monday 16 to Wednesday, 18.

Temperatures dropped significantly during the night, with several places seeing lows of between -2C and -10C. The public has been advised to “wrap up warmly” and make travel plans for today (Monday) in advance.

The cold spell is expected to reach as low as -2C in London, while Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Belfast are expected to experience -1C, -3C, and -10C temperatures, respectively.

Northern Scotland will have snow and ice into Wednesday morning, according to the Met Office.

With a 70% chance of extremely cold temperatures, icy conditions, and heavy flurries, the Met Office has described the snow forecast as being on a “knife’s edge.”
