The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has said that Afghanistan faces consecutive natural disasters every year.
On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the organization stated in a report that climate change has caused an increase in the intensity and scope of natural events in Afghanistan.
According to the report, the International Organization for Migration provided emergency humanitarian assistance to 27,679 families affected by natural disasters across Afghanistan in 2025.
The report states that among the families receiving assistance, 6,901 vulnerable families benefited from winterization aid, including heating supplies, clothing, and other essential needs for the cold season.
Additionally, 15,030 families received emergency assistance, including non-food items, cash assistance, and family tents.

According to this UN agency, 2,147 families benefited from shelter support services, and 3,601 families gained access to clean water and sanitation services.
The International Organization for Migration emphasized that these figures show the need for humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan, particularly following the increase in natural disasters and the impacts of climate change, continues to rise.
