Dust haze is expected to spread across the nation from Saturday to Monday, according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

A moderate dust haze on Saturday with visibility between 2 and 5 kilometres was predicted by NiMet’s weather outlook, which was made public on Friday in Abuja.

“Slight dusty haze is anticipated over the North-central and the inland cities of the South throughout the forecast period,”. “Hazy atmospheres with patches of clouds are anticipated over the coastal cities of the South within the forecast period,”.

The agency forecasted a moderate dust haze across the northern and north-central region on Saturday during the forecast period.

It predicted a slight dust haze over the inland cities of the South and a hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds over the coastal cities of the South throughout the forecast period.

“Except Akwa Ibom where chances of isolated thunderstorms are expected,” it said.

NiMet predicted a thick dust haze over the northern region on Monday within the period of forecast. It also predicted moderate dust haze over the North-central and inland cities of the South during the forecast period.

The agency further predicted slight dust haze conditions over the coastal cities of the South during the forecast period. It advised the public to take necessary precautions due to dust particles presently in suspension over the atmosphere.

It also urged individuals with respiratory ailments to protect themselves as the current dusty weather condition is adverse to their health.

“Night –Time cold temperatures should be expected, hence, warm clothing is advised for the little ones,” the agency added.
