Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) is set to deliver a keynote address at a high-level meeting hosted by The Rockefeller Foundation in New York.

The meeting, which will have international organizations and potential financial partners in attendance, is expected to among other things, facilitate the activation of the Voluntary Carbon Market in Nigeria and on the African continent.

This is part of a major push for funding and technical support for the Nigerian Energy Transition Plan.

The African Carbon Market Initiative has been aggressively promoted by the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), UN-Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), the UN Economic Commission for Africa, and the U.N. Climate Change High-Level Champions, all of which are present at the meeting.

Officials from the US administration will also be present at the Friday high-level discussion, which will explore prospects that carbon markets may present for generating funds for clean energy transitions while boosting economic growth in Nigeria and other African nations.
