Turkish’s minister of Family and Social Services, Derya Yank has said that the repercussions of climate change primarily affect women and children.
Yank who made this known at the 23rd “Child Forum” held in the capital Ankara, said that climate change must be determined on the basis of the children’s rights.”

She explained that while the Child Forum is held every November with the participation of children from different parts of the country, the forum reached an international level by hosting children from some 15 other countries this year.
On her part, the UNICEF representative in Turkey, Regina De Dominicis said that the motto of this year’s forum, Climate change and children’s participation would not have come at a better time than now that different countries are trying to battle the impacts of climate change which has had a devasting impact on women and children.
The 23rd Child Forum’s final statement is expected to be sent to the minister and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in April 2023 while the official statistics on the subject will be released by the nation’s official statistical institute, TÜK.
