People in the United Kingdom (UK) are likely to see more rain, flooding and freezing temperatures as the Environment Agency has issued 187 flood alerts and 117 flood warnings, mostly in Yorkshire and the west and southwest of England.

Several homes are now without power and hundreds have already suffered damage from the harsh weather and as temperatures continue to drop, a severe cold weather warning has also been issued for England beginning Sunday evening.

This is expected to continue to be in effect for the majority of the UK, with the warning that the cold may heighten health risks for vulnerable individuals and disrupt some services.

In parts of northern England, Northern Ireland, and the majority of Scotland, Yellow Met Office warnings for rain, wind, and ice are in effect.

According to Matt Taylor of BBC Weather, the weather would become significantly cooler in the next few days even though the heavy rain would stop on Saturday.

The River Severn was anticipated to peak at Bewdley, Worcestershire, on Saturday night, and Worcester on Sunday, according to the Environment Agency, which also predicted that conditions in the West Midlands will deteriorate before recovering.

Story was adapted from BBC.
