While in Lagos, Stiell will deliver a speech on how Nigeria can achieve new economic opportunities with a new national climate plan, and why bold climate action can lift people out of poverty, and secure energy access for all.

He will also discuss on how protecting the environment can boost Nigeria’s resilience to extreme weather events caused by climate change.

The UNFCCC executive secretary is also expected to participate in a panel discussion with business leaders at the symposium in Lagos and meet with civil society representatives on March 7.
