The United Nations (UN) has taken a decision to hold a donors’ conference in Davos, Switzerland, on January 15 as part of efforts to raise funds for the rehabilitation of Pakistan’s flood victims.
At this conference, the Sindh government will argue why greater aid should be provided by the international community.
This was revealed at a meeting on Thursday at the Chief Minister’s House in Sindh between Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and a UN mission led by Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Julien Harneis.

During the meeting, Shah claimed that due to extraordinary rains that caused widespread displacement, Pakistanis, and particularly those in Sindh, were among the first people in the world to experience the effects of climate change.
According to estimates, flood-related losses and damages totalled roughly $7.86 billion, which Sindh alone could not make up for with its own resources.
In order to provide the foreign audience at the conference with a proper presentation of data in order to receive additional assistance, the Chief Minister of Sindh has instructed his government’s Sindh Planning and Development Department to prepare it.
