The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) has named the City of Windsor as one of 123 A-List cities and counties that are leading the way in environmental action and transparency.

The Mayor of Windsor, Drew Dilkens who made this known in a press release, said that all governments must as a matter of urgency, make climate change risk a focus of decision-making going forward.

He said “the City of Windsor is thrilled to accept this designation for our early leadership on environmental stewardship while we recognize the need to continue to improve our systems and approach,”. “As Mayor, I’m confident that our City Council and administration, working together, will rise to this challenge.”

Windsor is one of 49 cities or counties across North America to make the 2022 A-list. A city or county needs to show that it takes environmental protection and combating climate change seriously to be put on the CDP’s A-list.

The city of Windsor has received praise for the upkeep of its parks, Sewer and Coastal Flood Management Goal, and plan to cut emissions through active transportation and home energy upgrading. It has also been recognized for the upcoming battery plant project and the retooling of the Windsor Assembly Plant to allow for the production of electric vehicles.

Story was adapted from City of Windsor.
