The governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has given her approval for the deployment of 2670 employees as coordinators and supervisors at the Ministry of the Environment.

The newly established Climate Change Adaptation Project will employ personnel from the 17 local government councils.

In each of the 178 wards in the state, 15 coordinators and supervisors will work, according to Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, the commissioner for the environment.

The Climate Change Adaptation Project would be executing various activities to check the challenges of climate change.

He explained that the massive deployment of staff to the project was to effectively check the menace of climate change in the state.

“We are determined to confront the menace to boost agriculture, and ensure food safety and security,” he said.

Karasuwa said social organizations would be encouraged to get involved and take ownership of the project.
