The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) has launched the 2022 Global Food Policy Report as part of efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change and increase its adaption in the country.
Speaking during the launch of the report in Abuja, a Senior Official at IFPRI, Mr Clemens Breisinger said that it was aimed at addressing the multiple challenges and crises faced such as fertiliser prices, drought, and climate change by farmers.
According to him, the launch of the report shows that the challenges that come with climate change in different parts of the world also have potential solutions. He said it is hoped that the report will help address the challenges that come with climate change but also with some of the potential solutions.

โAt the same time, we have heard about what the high food and fertiliser mean for Nigeria, and again there is an urgent need for action, โhe said. โIt is important to note that climate change and the global emission was caused by industrialised countries and all the countries in Africa including Nigeria have to bear the brunt of the consequences,โ
He maintained that if implemented, the policy would change the growing threat to the countryโs food systems, livelihood and overall well-being of its citizens while calling for better collaboration between Nigeria and the international community to implement the action on the ground for food and nutrition security.
